Local skate shops have always been the backbone of the skating community. They’re a place for new
skaters to grow, old skaters to thrive, and a place where everyone can feel like they are home.
Unfortunately, a local skate shop is nothing but a pipedream for most bladers. Now, Southern California
has their ownshop that houses the headquarters for numerous popular skating brands, including Valo,
Themgoods, Youth, and Dyna. Blading legend and entrepreneur Jon Julio discusses the journey of
Themgoods from a garage-run distribution company to the latest storefront in the thriving, eclectic
downtown area of Santa Ana, Ca.
EST. 2008 TheM Goods since the beginning by Jon Julio

Themgoods Distribution was started in Milpitas, Ca. in 2008 by myself (Jon Julio) and my brother, Victor Julio.
The name came from our hometown—Milpitas—located in the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California.
The “M” in the Themgoods logo stands for Milpitas.

From the very beginning, I teamed up with good friend, pro skater, photographer, and fellow Bay Area
native Brandon Smith.

Our main goal has always been to manufacture and distribute the highest quality of blading products. Valo hard
and soft goods , Themgoods Precision Bearings, the Dyna Wheel Co., and Youth Frameworks.

We were shipping out of my garage for the first 2 years.
Adobe.TV (Thank you, Jake Wiens) gave us a good opportunity to be featured on their website. During that
interview, I spoke on where we planned on taking Themgoods. It was a good platform to launch our distribution
company.
By the end of 2009, we established an international distribution company shipping overseas to Europe, Australia,
Asia, and North and South America.

As Themgoods "the brand," our precision bearings were initially our staple product.
"The Best in the World Ride Them Bearings" became our motto with skaters Erik Bailey, Chris Haffey ,
Jeff Stockwell, and Alex Broskow backing the brand.

By the end of the second year, we moved into our live/work loft space in Santa Ana, located in Southern California

The loft became the haven/hotel for skaters from all over the world.

A necessary move brought us back north to Milpitas in early 2011. We opened what became our first
official office/warehouse space.

In 2011, we threw the Blading Cup Contest and Pro Demo on the East End of downtown Santa Ana…

…and out of the success of the event and a newfound relationship with the land owners on the East End of
Downtown Santa Ana, the concept of a retail store arose.
A move back to Santa Ana was inevitable.

Now in 2012, we have been working hard on opening our show room and retail space.

Downtown Santa Ana's thriving nightlife and artist community puts the Themgoods retail store in a perfect scene.
